High above the shores of Petrcane and Punta Skala, on dramatic slopes bathed in over 2,600 hours of sun each year, lies a vineyard born of both legend and stone. Royal Vineyards are not only rooted in soil, they are rooted in history.

In 1066, Croatian King Petar Krešimir IV gifted this fertile land to the Benedictine Monastery of St. Mary in Zadar. Tended by noble hands and blessed with views of the Zadar archipelago, the Velebit mountain range, and the endless blue of the Adriatic, these hills have cradled vines for nearly 900 years.

Revived in 2011 after decades of silence, today’s vineyard rises again with over 300,000 vines across 23 hectares, planted in crushed limestone, a terrain so rocky it challenges the vine, and in doing so, blesses the grape. This unique terroir, paired with the ever-present sea breeze and cooler air flowing from the Velebit mountains, results in wines of exceptional freshness, minerality, and fruit-forward character.
